Welcome to another episode of the Style and Strategy podcast.
Firstly, I really just want to thank so many of you for tuning in every week and listening to the interviews or when it’s just me providing some advice and insights. I would say around your personal brand and style, we actually hit the top 100 in the Careers category on Apple Podcasts this week. So, super proud of that! But that wouldn't have been the case without all of you really just tuning in every week, as well as all the amazing guests I've had on. I just really wanted to say thank you, and I hope you continue to enjoy what I’m bringing to you.
Today's episode is actually something close to my heart because I have been going through a little bit of an evolution personally. As part of that, what I've noticed is my own personal brand and my own style have started to navigate through this transition. So I have been starting to work from home a little bit more than I had in the past. Many of you know that I run both group programs, and I do a lot of one-on-ones as well. A lot of that has been done virtually over Zoom, which has been amazing and absolutely incredible, working with so many different women from all over the world, and across Australia as well.
Obviously, doing that has meant that, surprise, surprise, my wardrobe has started to shift a little bit. So I've always been a big supporter of smart casual dressing, especially after Covid. When I was working in an office environment, the office environment had changed in that regard. So I very much leaned into that smart casual dressing, although I do really enjoy getting dressed up as well.
What I’m noticing is that as I'm starting to spend more time working from home, my wardrobe and style are beginning to evolve. Now, I know that can happen to a lot of people where you’re transitioning, and maybe you’re thinking about things shifting in your life or your career. And for me, it’s my wardrobe starting to evolve.
I’ve been more inclined to be a little bit more relaxed but still polished. It’s one of those things where my personal brand, as a strategist and style expert, has always been about how we show up and the impression we create. I think that’s the beauty of fashion – it allows us to evolve, it allows us to grow, and it reflects our personal journey.
So if you’re finding that your wardrobe is not really aligning with how you want to show up, then maybe it’s time to take stock of that. Maybe it’s time to think about what’s serving you right now, what’s helping you to feel confident, and what’s supporting your journey. And for me, that’s been quite reflective of the evolution I’ve been going through personally and professionally.
It’s also something I’m really passionate about for my clients because sometimes that shift can feel a little bit uncomfortable, and we don’t recognize that our style and wardrobe are a part of that journey. When we’re working from home or going into the office, our wardrobe can really support us in feeling grounded, confident, and ready to show up in the world.
Maybe you’re experiencing a change, where you’re either working from home more or you’re thinking about how your lifestyle and career are evolving. If that’s the case, I encourage you to lean into that, take stock, and see how you can adjust your style to support where you’re headed.
If your workplace is getting more dressy, or if your role is elevating, it’s important to ask yourself, “Am I dressing for that person I want to be, or for the person I am now?” That’s something I’ve been reflecting on as well.
I’ll keep you updated on my journey, and you’ll see a bit of that through my content. I can feel the shift happening, and I want to share with you that it’s absolutely normal. Even as a personal brand strategist and style expert, I go through these shifts. It’s about identifying those changes and embracing them.
I want you to start recognizing those shifts too, because sometimes that’s why we feel a little stagnant with our style – something is starting to change, or we’re aspiring to something different. It’s about taking a step back, taking stock, and being able to move forward again.
I hope you enjoyed that little insight into what’s happening behind the scenes. I’ve actually got a free wardrobe checklist that I’ve put together that might help you. If you’ve got that vision clearly in your mind but you’re thinking about what those core pieces are that you need to mix and match, this will be helpful.
I’ll put the details of that checklist in the show notes, so go grab your free copy and let me know how you go!
